The Arqana Autumn sale wrapped up its first of two yearling sessions Tuesday with figures trending ahead of last year and National Hunt offerings dominating procedures. A total of 131 horses sold Tuesday–two more than this day a year ago–for €2,409,500, up from €2,011,500 last year. The average was up 17.9% to €18,393, while the median stayed the same at €11,000. The buyback rate was 29% Tuesday, up from 21.8% on this day last year.
Over the first two days, 298 lots have been sold for €7,369,500, compared to 296 sold for €6,470,000 at this stage last year. The cumulative average has jumped 12.9% to €24,730, while the median is up 9% to €12,000.
The Newmarket-based Highflyer Bloodstock purchased the two most expensive lots of the day, jumps prospects by Kapgarde (Fr) (lot 400) and Saint des Saints (Fr) (lot 376), for €115,000 and €105,000, respectively, for owners Dai Walters and James Potter. Highflyer also purchased lot 426, a son of Poliglote, for €70,000, giving the agency three of the top four lots of the day. At the end of the day, Highflyer had signed for 13 yearlings for €534,000.
The Arqana Autumn sale concludes Wednesday with a final session of yearlings.
